The police interrogated Shinde on charges of being part of the illegal betting and fixing of matches in the Karnataka Premier League. Shinde, who runs a cricket club, is the coach of KPL team Belagavi Panthers. As quoted by The Hindu, a police officer said:

Shinde joins a long list of players and coaches who have been arrested in relation to the KPL fixing saga. Interestingly, the owner of Belagavi Panthers, Ashfaq Ali Thara, was the first one to be arrested by the Crime Branch.

Shinde joins the other eight suspects who have been arrested - Bengaluru Blasters players Nishant Singh Shekhawat and M Vishwanath, Bengaluru Blasters’s bowling coach Vinu Prasad, Bellary Tuskers captain CM Gautam, spinner Abrar Kazi, drummer of Belagavi Panthers Bhavesh Bafna and international bookie Sayyam Gulati.
